Un business auto gestito in modo efficiente ritengo possa generare dal 7 al 7,7% negli Usa, mentre, visto il panorama industriale in Europa, alla domanda se questo numero sia possibile sul mercato europeo la mia risposta è no.
L'industria automobilistica europea ha bisogno di razionalizzazione: si tratta di un bisogno non più negabile. Il problema della sovracapacità va affrontato e risolto alla radice e con un'ottica comune perché gli interventi unilaterali dei singoli governi rischiano di essere pericolosi.

Marchionne, l'ad della Fiat e' il leader industriale dell'anno. Lo ha stabilito Automotive News la 'bibbia' dell' industria automobilistica. Secondo il settimanale specializzato Marchionne, in pochi mesi ''ha trasformato il paesaggio dei mercati automobilistici dagli Stati Uniti all'Europa''.
Lo scorso anno, scrive Automotive, Marchionne ''e' stato il piu' visibile agente di cambiamento all'interno dell'industria dell'auto, ottenendo un grandissimo successo''.

Marchionne, Fiat CEO, is the industrial leader of the year. He established the Automotive News 'bible' of the automotive industry. According to the weekly specialist Marchionne, in a few months "has transformed the landscape of the automotive markets in the U.S. to Europe".

La Fiat non ha bisogno di liquidità, nel secondo trimestre ha raggiunto gli obiettivi prefissati in termini di utile operativo. L'obiettivo era di migliorare nel secondo trimestre e cosi è. Siamo ok con l'utile operativo e abbiamo fiducia che genereremo il livello di cash flow richiesto. Abbiamo bisogno di un piano industriale chiaro per fare lo spin-off. Opel sarebbe stata un'opportunità reale, che ci avrebbe permesso di raggiungere una produzione di 6 milioni di vetture, ma non ci siamo ancora. Sul mercato nord-americano verrà importata tutta la gamma Alfa. La nuova 147 uscirà l'anno prossimo: andrà in produzione quest'anno a Cassino e quindi la vedremo al salone di Ginevra del 2010. Da lì partirà uno sviluppo di vetture. Probabilmente faremo la nuova cross over e la nuova 169. L'ammiraglia di Alfa sarà realizzata su una piattaforma condivisa con Chrysler. Una volta restituiti i fondi allo stato americano e raggiunti gli obiettivi di risanamento, l’azienda italiana potrà aumentare la sua quota fino al 51 per cento. I piani di Marchionne prevedono infatti la cessione a Chrysler di tecnologia, piattaforme e propulsori per costruire vetture a basso impatto ambientale, ormai sempre più richieste anche dal mercato statunitense.

Non parliamo dei francesi. Tra americani e tedeschi abbiamo abbastanza da fare, abbiamo contatti con tutti e Psa è anche nostra socia. Con loro abbiamo attività in comune ma non abbiamo nulla in corso. Tutto è possibile ma per il momento non c'è nulla da dire.		Not to mention the French. Il governo italiano nonostante tutto quello che si è detto, ha fatto tutto quello che doveva fare. Quello che abbiamo chiesto al governo tedesco è di dare sei miliardi di finanziamento o per lo meno un appoggio di garanzia. Credo che il sistema di garanzia possa essere messo su dal governo tedesco insieme ad altri governi europei e quindi lo spazio per il governo italiano di tornare su quella partita c'è. Se l'operazione non va in porto, non c'è nessuna necessità di farlo ma credo che il governo si sia comportato bene: io non avrei fatto nient'altro. Questo è un anno politico in Germania. Le scelte razionali, industriali non si possono fare in campagna elettorale. Opel adesso com'è sistemata non sta in piedi molto bene, ha una debolezza strutturale che è preoccupante e non so cosa rimarrà per l'autunno se non si mette mano a una riorganizzazione precisa. E' un'azienda che è sempre stata collegata al sistema americano e adesso ha i suoi problemi da gestire. Non è facile perchè non sono mai stati da soli. Le questioni emerse nelle ultime fasi del negoziato tra martedì e mercoledì ci hanno sorpreso negativamente dal momento che non eravamo stati informati di certi dati ed informazioni finanziarie chiave che consideriamo essenziali per la formulazione di un'offerta di fusione seria. Data la natura del processo e la sua durata estremamente limitata, Fiat non ha avuto pieno accesso alle informazioni contabili di Opel per determinare con esattezza la situazione finanziaria della stessa Opel e poter così formulare un'offerta di fusione che tenga in considerazione sia le esigenze di General Motors come venditore che quelle di Fiat. Le richieste dell'ultima ora costringerebbero, fra l'altro, Fiat a sostenere finanziariamente Opel nell'immediato, mentre il Governo Tedesco determina i tempi e le altre condizioni del finanziamento ponte, esponendo così Fiat a rischi non necessari e irragionevoli. Non e' infatti ragionevole ritenere che Fiat, dopo aver fatto una prudente valutazione di business ed una attenta considerazione dei propri interessi, possa finanziare un gruppo le cui condizioni finanziarie allo stato rimangono ignote.
